Drew has ghosthunting fever!!
Drew got his first taste of haunted houses when he would visit my dad. My dad would watch some of the ghost-hunting shows and tell him stories about some of the tours that he had taken. He was very interested in the stories, the history and watching the equipment.
Our first ghost hunt was in July 2018. This picture sums up what Drew’s face looked like the entire night. We were able to explore McKinney’s Chestnut Square with a group that included professional ghosthunters. Drew enjoyed watching the team’s work and the way the equipment responded. We slept there overnight. it was during this visit that we met one of our friends, Melissa, with whom we still go ghost hunting today.
I understand that this is probably not everyone’s cup of tea but it is something that we do regularly. I really enjoy it. I will admit that I used to be scared and expected it to be like the worst scary movie. Luckily it has not turned out that way. We go to these old places and we learn the history behind those places. We learn about the times and the events that took place. We hear old ghost stories and we also watch people get scared when a board creaks.
Since we often have to spend the night in small towns, we get to explore the small town and learn the history behind it. I’ve seen parts of Texas that I never would have gone to if it wasn’t for the story and a haunted house. I describe it as sitting around a campfire when you are a teenager, telling scary stories when all of a sudden you hear a twig break and everyone jumps.
For Drew, he likes exploring with me and learning the stories, he loves meeting the people, he loves playing with the equipment and most of all he loves freaking our friends out by trying to get them to come with us.
I do plan on writing about the places we visit. They will be put in the ghosthunting category.
